*  Press the (MON/F) key, then press the MONI switch on left side of radio. (This is a short cut to Menu Item Basic Setup #1 SQL NFM or Basic Setup #2 SQL WFM)
* Now press (Main) or (Sub) key to set squelch so background noise is just silenced.  Typically about 3 or 4.
* When satisfied press PTT to save new settings.
